Last year Melissa and I closed the store and went on on of our infamous field trips to GUTS; a charity pumpkin carving contest. Click here to see our blog posting from last year. It looked like so much fun that we decided to participate this year. The contest is today and we’re excited (and nervous).
We’ll be closing the store around 3:00 pm to go to the NC Music Factory. Here’s an update on where we are:
A couple weeks ago we discussed our concept. Melissa has carved pumpkins before, I have not. Did I mention I am impatient?
Last week Melissa and LaTesha purchased all of our tools.
Today, in the freezing cold, I went to purchase the pumpkins. The pumpkin patch was closed, but on the honor system, so I wrote a check for our purchases. Please excuse the blurriness of the picture – my hands were freezing!
I spent 15 minutes selecting the perfect pumpkins.
This morning, while Melissa completes a few client projects, I’m in charge of pumpkin gutting and creating the props. Then I will meet with customers from 12 to 2 while Melissa creates our stencils.
I’ll add some pictures to our Facebook page during the event, be sure and check it out!
We cannot wait to show you the finished product. When you see it remember the concept is great; the verdict is still out on the execution as we have 90 minutes to start and finish the design. If nothing else, we both look cute in our orange!
If you have time around 4 pm or later, come on by and cheer us on – we need it!
